David Allen Ho’ & John Swardson (Americana) $5

Tuesday, February 21, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

David Allen Ho’ got his start playing drums at house parties and in local dive bars around his native territory of rural North Dakota. Influenced by some of the greats, such as John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, and Hank Williams, as well as contemporaries like Lucero and Drive-By Truckers, he eventually learned a few chords on guitar and mandolin and started to write and perform his own music. He sings his songs of lost love and unwanted change with a unique voice stained by cheap cigarettes and alcohol.

In 2014, David traveled to Minneapolis, MN to record his debut EP “Eight Feet Wide & A Mile Deep” at Silver Ant Studios, enlisting the help of a few Minneapolis musicians and friends to round out his band (Brian Wheat, Joe Kopel, Tommy Tousey, and Ryan Holweger).

My name is John Swardson, I’m a singer-songwriter based in Minneapolis. I have 2 records out, (Ablaze 2006, and Silver Dust 2008) that are available on itunes. I put out a record with my band Get Gone called ‘Dogs in the Woods’ in the summer of 2012 which is also available on itunes. Get Gone has disbanded but my new band Bad Blood debuted in the spring of 2013. We are in the process of mixing our debut record with a spring ’17 release in mind.

I’ve been playing out for over 10 years now and frequent the stages of my favorite venues in the Twin Cities, First Avenue/7th St Entry, The Turf Club, The Aster Cafe, etc. I’ve also played clubs on both coasts including The Bitter End and Banjo Jim’s in New York and Largo and Hotel Cafe’ in LA and participated in SxSw. I’ve had the privilege of sharing the stage with many great artists over the past few years including Sturgill Simpson, Gene Ween, Paul Kelly, Spider John Koerner, The Deep Dark Woods, Dax Riggs, Eddie Spaghetti from The Supersuckers, Ben Nichols from Lucero, and Echo and The Bunnymen.
