Hannah Cooper with special guest Adelyn Rose (Folk/Jazz) $5
Tuesday, October 16 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Bay Area folk/jazz singer-songwriter, Hannah Cooper, creates a sound that defies categorization. With songs that embrace her years of jazz guitar and classical choral training, Hannah employs brave storytelling — delivered with theatrical flair — to engage and delight audiences. Her Minnesota feet first landed in Portland, Oregon, after riding the Amtrak “Empire Builder” out west in 2010. This Fall, her “Empire Builder” tour is a compilation of songs inspired by nearly a decade of living on the west coast. These songs have captured deeply rooted experiences and lessons from her life. Grab a chair and prepare to be transported by stories layered in chords, textures and lyrics. Listeners who come expecting a “just another” singer-songwriter will be simply blown away.
Adelyn Rose is an Eau Claire band transplanted to Minneapolis that has a revolving cast of ex jazz musicians. The group is fronted by Addie Strei who studied jazz saxophone in Wisconsin before doing back to back artist residencies in Berlin and New York City and then settling in Minneapolis. Now backed by her brother Leo Strei on bass and drummer Dave Power, Adelyn Rose is playing songs off of their upcoming full length to be released in late fall. The indie rock trio’s sound ranges from simple emotive songs sometimes compared with Sharon Van Etten, to more complex and experimental structure influenced by jazz sounds.
