Meg Kirsch | The Hollow Ends | Almighty American (Indie Rock) $9

Saturday, August 18, 2018 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

After nearly a decade of composing lyrics to Kenny G cassette tapes, Meg Kirsch finally picked up a guitar and googled how to play. She’s been stitching words to her very own melodies ever since. Her debut EP will be released late 2018, and she’s pumped for you to hear it.

The Hollow Ends is a folk-rock band fronted by Saint Louis-based songwriter Zachary Schwartz. Mixing socially conscious lyrics with anthemic choruses and roots/Americana sounds with punk rock energy, The Hollow Ends deliver a varied but cohesive and compelling musical package. Schwartz moves seamlessly between punchy, driven punk reminiscent of Bad Religion or Pennywise, and gorgeously arranged folk and roots music blanketed in delicate harmonies that bring to mind Brown Bird, Shakey Graves, or Avett Brothers.

Almighty American is the moniker for Minneapolis-based dreamer, Michael Gay. He plays and sings songs that are pretty good for holding hands, usually inspired by holding hands. Other major influences include old books, cowboys, going fast and being free.
