St. Paddys Day with Teague Alexy & Erik Berry w/ special guest Ryan Young $10

Saturday, March 17, 2018 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

“Irish American” is the new duo record by northern Minnesota-based musicians Teague Alexy and Erik Berry. Berry is the mandolinist for nationally recognized bluegrass act Trampled by Turtles. Alexy is a celebrated singer-songwriter both under his own name and in the Americana group Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank. Teague and Erik’s new release features nine traditional Irish favorites, including “Whiskey in the Jar,” “The Wild Colonial Boy” and “Mountain Dew,” as well as two original songs. The album features guest appearances by Nicholas David, Jillian Rae, Ian Alexy and members of Pert’ Near Sandstone and Pistol Whipping Party Penguins. Trampled by Turtles fiddler Ryan Young plays on the album and will be joining Teague and Erik for a special St Patrick’s Day performance at Aster Cafe in Minneapolis.

Music 9-11pm

“The TBT members still continue to carve out interesting music on the side. The record features a pair of sweet original tunes alongside traditionals and musical contributions from members of pert Near Sandstone and TBT violinist Ryan Young, who helmed the recording in his Cold War-era bunker studio.” – Star Tribune

“With spirited picking and energetic sing-along choruses supporting appropriately weathered lead vocals, the repertoire is nine traditional Irish tunes plus a couple of originals: Alexy’s title track, which suggests an outtake from Workingman’s Dead while telling his own family’s immigration tale, and Berry’s sprightly jig “Miss K’s Fancy.” – City Pages
