Relive the history of country music in person. Hosted by 2019 Midwest CMA Americana Artist of the Year nominee Maygen Lacey, What Even is “Country Music” is a limited music series inspired by Ken Burns’ documentary series Country Music.
Each monthly show will focus on the songs of two subgenres that were integral in shaping country music into what it is today. Each genre will be presented by a featured band and also spotlight additional Midwest Country Music Association vocalists weaving throughout. The series will follow the timeline of growth from the origins in folk, to honky tonk and Nashville Sound and others, ending in June with it’s Mainstream 90’s peak night. There is surely something for everyone to enjoy and learn along the way!
