Via driving rhythms, colorful solos, and vocal harmony, Minneapolis-based roots act Little Riddles delivers complex stories with simple melodies in the vein of the American folk traditions.

Little Riddles is fronted by singer-songwriter Robert Pieh, who in 2013 picked up the guitar living in Costa Rica and began writing his own music. Pieh’s songwriting draws from the bluegrass, early rock ‘n’ roll, and country western traditions. With this framework, Little Riddles creates its own sound, blending important aspects of these genres into a 21st century aesthetic.

Having released their self-titled, debut EP in April of 2016, the band is following the momentum of their successful introduction, playing in the Twin Cities region and greater Midwest. Little Riddles returned to the studio in Winter 2017 to record at Minneapolis mainstay The Terrarium, whose tracking rooms have seen acts such as Trampled By Turtles, Mason Jennings, and Motion City Soundtrack. The resulting material will be celebrated with a release in Summer 2017.

Cinematic is the word most often used to describe Minneapolis based Marah in the Mainsail’s sound. Precise yet primitive jungle drums set the stage for the eclectic and powerful ensemble to sweep you away into their haunting world. Like oil and water, Durry’s gravel voice alongside Mercades’ crystal clarity form a stirring, yet beautiful contrast. All being thrusted foreword by aggressive percussion, growling base, and soaring brass. Their lyrics paint a thrilling picture of monsters and ghosts, murderers and thieves, love and guilt, and everything in between.

Since debuting their full length album “Thaumatrope” in 2015, the band has gained considerable notoriety in the Midwest, and continues to grow their exceptionally loyal fanbase across the country. They later signed with Minneapolis local Last Triumph Records, and released Thaumatrope on 12” vinyl. Poised to launch into the rest of the US and beyond, Marah in the Mainsail continues to stand out from the pack, and bring their unique blend of musical influences to the alternative music scene
