Dan Murphy, Marc Perlman, & Kraig Johnson (of Golden Smog) w/ DIANE$12

Saturday, August 3 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

The Golden Smog family tree has many branches, off shoots and dead ends. Over the years, Dan Murphy (Loud Fast Rules), Marc Perlman (The Neglectors), Kraig Johnson (The Portables) have played together numerous times in many different combinations – some famous, some obscure, some forgotten. This gig came together spontaneously in the back room of a bar, amidst drinks and celebration – a perfect incubator for some Smoggy fun and inspired music. Forget the hype and collective history, though; the key takeaway for this occasion is a noble one: old friends taking the opportunity to play some music together to make people happy, something they are abundantly capable of doing, regardless of what’s billed on the marquee. Not to be missed.

Breaking News: Steve Gorman (Mister Crowes Garden) has thrown his hat into the ring and will be appearing both nights.

Diane is a Minneapolis-based musician and radio host/producer.

Primarily a singer and guitarist, Diane performs and writes an eclectic variety of music, including hip-hop, folk, jazz, and rock ‘n’ roll. She’s performed everywhere from Target Field to Target Center, First Avenue to Minnesota State Fair’s Grandstand, either with a full band, solo or performing as a special guest with acclaimed acts such as Kiss The Tiger, Haley, Tommy Stinson, and The New Standards.

Also a journalist, Diane hosts and produces The Local Show on Minnesota Public Radio’s The Current. Every Sunday from 7 to midnight, Diane curates a 5-hour playlist featuring all Minnesota-based artists/bands. The show includes an artist of the month, local debuts, music news, throwback tracks, live recordings, interviews, and more.

Prior to her role at The Current, Diane worked as the talent booker for the Minneapolis-based venue/restaurant Icehouse. From dinner music featuring jazz trios, to monthly residencies featuring up-and-coming indie bands, to hip-hop dance parties, Diane was responsible for organizing 7-10 acts per week.

Diane first gained notoriety in her hometown of Fargo-Moorhead. The Fargo South High School and Minnesota State University Moorhead music grad fronted the local hip-hop band D Mills & The Thrills. She served as the editor-in-chief of the local alt weekly High Plains Reader. And she booked music for the indie venue The Aquarium.
