Delphia Cello Quartet (Modern Classical) $6
Sunday, February 25, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Founded in 2017, Delphia Cello Quartet plays original arrangements of popular tunes.
Rachelle Smith earned her B.A. in Music from the University of Minnesota, where she studied under Tanya Remenikova. Other teachers include Olga Dolgaya, Laura Handler, and Hong Wang. Rachelle is an active performer around the Twin Cities, both as a cellist and as a singer/songwriter under the artist name Rachelle LaNae. She loves sharing her passion for music while learning from her students, and currently teaches cello at St. Joseph’s School of Music and guitar/piano/voice at Twin Town Guitars. Intrigued by the intersections of music and psychology, Rachelle is also working on publishing her empirically derived theory that it is impossible to be sad while playing the ukulele.
Amanda Burgdorf is a Minneapolis based freelance cellist and singer. Since obtaining her B.A. in music from St. Olaf College, she has performed in a wide range of venues, including the Guthrie, the American Swedish Institute, the Bloomington Civic Theater, yoga studios, coffee shops, the Lanesboro Music Festival, on Moose Mountain, and a raft on the Mississippi River. She semi-regularly performs with her pop-folk band Muus, the Buffalo Community Orchestra, and Improvestra. While not making music, Amanda, a desperate extrovert, loves to bike the city in search of friendly strangers with whom to share a pleasant nod or passing greeting. She also loves walking fast, potlucks, and advocating for health care as a human right.
Katherine Canon is a cello teacher and performer with a BA in Music and Spanish from St. Olaf College. She teaches individual and group cello lessons through her own studio and MacPhail Center for Music, and plays in a variety of groups in the Twin Cities, including the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and the band Fox & Coyote. In addition to music, Katherine likes to fill her life with delicious food, good books and plenty of outdoor adventures.
Julia Floberg is the manager and arranger of Delphia. Born and raised in Minneapolis, Julia moved out east to complete a B.A. in Music from Dartmouth College and a M.S. in Arts Administration from Boston University. She plays with several local groups, subs with the Duluth Symphony, and writes her own songs. She teaches at Twin Town Guitars and leads fitness classes at Six Degrees Uptown. Afflicted with the condition of wanderlust, she likes to take off on expeditions around the globe every once and a while, but she has learned firsthand that Dorothy was right: there is no place like home.
