Mother Banjo Baby Sendoff Party w/Vicky Emerson Band (Singer Songwriter) $10

Friday, April 26, 2019 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Come celebrate with Mother Banjo as she prepares to take her maternity leave and become a real mama! Featuring the
full Mother Banjo Band and a special opening set by Vicky Emerson’s band, this show will be a celebration of her new album and her special “new release” coming in May. This will be her final band show before her 3-month musical break so don’t miss it!

Featuring Ellen Stanley on banjo and vocals, Mother Banjo is a New England-raised, Minneapolis-based songwriter. Called “an outstanding poet” (Inside Bluegrass), she was a Midwest Finalist for the prestigious Mountain Stage NewSong Contest and has been featured nationally on SiriusXM Radio and CMT.com. She has showcased at South By Southwest (SXSW) and the Folk Alliance International Conference and is touring behind her new album Eyes on the Sky and opening for artists like Lucy Wainwright Roche and Grammy-winning bluegrass/country legend Jim Lauderdale. Featured on The Current, the new record is Mother Banjo’s most fully realized album to date, artfully mixing her signature blend of folk, bluegrass and soulful Americana that has become a hallmark of her live shows. Produced by Jeff Oehler of New York-based Beehive Productions, it was tracked live on the stage of the historic Sheldon Theatre in Red Wing, MN with her all-star that includes Ben Cook-Feltz (keyboards, vocals), Dan Gaarder (guitars, vocals), Jim Parker (mandolin), Eric Paulson (bass) and Joe Olsen (drums). The full band will be joining her for this final show before Mother Banjo goes on maternity leave to become a new mother so don’t miss it!

“a stripped-down, highly atmospheric collection of Americana.”
-St. Paul Pioneer Press

“she has moxie, this one. And poise at the microphone.”
-No Depression

Mother Banjo Official Website

Americana singer/songwriter, Vicky Emerson, has been heralded by the Minneapolis Star Tribune and No Depression for her gorgeous, dusky voice and songwriting chops on previous releases but her new album, Steady Heart, which she self-produced, has firmly established her as an essential, strong female voice in Americana music. Emerson tours nationally and has opened for Gregory Alan Isakov, Malcomb Holcombe as a solo artist and Emmylou Harris as The Home Fires. She was raised in rural Wisconsin, has lived in New York City and San Francisco before relocating back to her roots in Minneapolis with her husband to raise her children.

“…one of the pre-eminent independent singer/songwriters working in Americana. Her lyrical acumen is readily apparent for any listener, those unfamiliar with her work and longtime fans alike, but the lean economy of her poetic musings separates her work from performers who might otherwise overdo their desired effect on the audience.” NO DEPRESSION

“The whole record is unflagging and ferocious, but its most triumphant moment comes on the country revenge song “The Reckoning.”” CITY PAGES
