Ruben is very much a family band with origins in both Lake Elmo and Minnetonka, Minnesota, the group features brothers Sam (Guitar, Bass and Vocals) and Mack Ziemer (Drums & Vocals) as well as Mack’s wife Catie (Guitar, Bass and Vocals) and the brothers’ childhood friend Dan Schiltz (Guitar, Keys, Bass and Vocals). With 1 full length album, an EP and most recently a 7″ inch vinyl recorded in Nashville, Tennessee under their collective belt, the members have finally come to what feels like a turning point in the music. Since their last full release, 2013’s The Orchard EP, the band have spent the last few years honing in on a sound; crafting their music and finding an identity. They are currently in the process of creating a new album of brand new songs, songs that incorporate a wide range of influences from all four members. The new album, now in the stage of pre-production, deals with their most personal lyrical content to date, featuring all 4 members contributing to the writing process while exploring broader arrangements and song structures, all the while featuring a heavy emphasis on vocal harmonies. The band, known for their raucous and high-energy live shows, have momentarily dialed it back to road test songs that require the concert goer to tune in and pay attention.
