Scott Laurent (Americana) $12
Friday, June 14 @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Laurent started playing clubs in Minneapolis while still in high school, signing his first record deal when he was twenty-two. His fifth album “Love Don’t Let Me Down” was produced in Nashville, where Laurent is a full time songwriter.
“Nashville has been great. I’ve been able to work with songwriters who’s names I used to read in the liner notes of my favorite records, grammy winners, and major label recording artists.”
Scott Laurent, who has been making a name in Nashville-
“I’m dying here in Nashville,” Scott Laurent howls on his new album. Whether or not he means that literally, the Springsteen-esque rocker clearly still considers the Twin Cities home. Laurent left for Nashville in 2008 and has bided his time co-writing with other singers and playing songwriter round robins at the Bluebird Cafe. His album, “Love Don’t Let Me Down,” offers a hint of Music Row’s polished twang but maintains the old BoDeans-style heartland-rock flavor.

Some of the best sounds in Nashville are not country at all-
Sometimes you leave home and things change, and sometimes that change is you. Scott Laurent returns to Minneapolis to celebrate his latest album, Love Don’t Let Me Down, after living and immersing himself in music in Nashville for the last six years. The music has traces of country and blues, yet still contains particles of indie rock.
Youa Vang (City Pages) 2014
“Love Don’t Let Me Down” has a strong country soul, but with a definite rock undercurrent. Becca Martin (Riftmagazine) 2014
Scott Laurent brings new-found southern influence to the stage with unapologetic country gruff and vigor. Folk is an oversimplification that may lead many to be surprised by the complexities of his performance.
