Wilkinson James is singer-songwriter duo Liz Wilkinson and AJ Scheiber, who have been performing their distinctive blend of blues, folk, and honky-tonk in and around the Twin Cities area since they first met up in 2008. A fan once described their original songs as “the bastard offspring of Townes Van Zandt and June Carter Cash.” For their debut performance at The Aster they’ll be spotlighting tunes from their recently released CD (produced by Ben Kyle of Romantica) with accompaniment from a select cast of musical friends. Expect an intimate, fun evening of music full of heart, humor, and honky-tonk harmony, embellished with dobro, saxophone, and the occasional touch of reverb twang.
